How Netus spent $40m under radar

INTERNET investment group Netus has been shrouded in mystery since its inception in 2005 but details of where it has spent its $40m venture capital fund are emerging.

The group, which is led by former Microsoft executive chairman Daniel Petre and 75per cent owned by News Limited (publisher of The Australian), has refused requests for interviews to date, preferring to operate under the radar.

Petre and other directors of Netus own the remainder of the fund through an entity aptly called 2GTHR.

But this week Media has confirmed Netus has made investments in at least five Australian internet-related businesses, most of which rely strongly on advertising revenue.
