I returned to Australia in 2016 after a 6 year stint working with startups in the UK and US. I was a founding Principal at transatlantic venture firm White Star Capital where we invested in such well known companies as Dollar Shave Club (acquired by Unilever for $1bn), Betaworks, Science Inc, Bloglovin’, KeyMe, Dice.fm and Hole19. I also co-founded London.AI, which has become the leading event for AI practitioners in Europe.
Before White Star, I ran business development and operations at Summly, which produced algorithmically generated summaries of the news on your smartphone using AI and NLP. Summly received Apple’s Award for Best App of 2012 and we were fortunate enough to be acquired by Yahoo in May 2013. I’ve also held roles in business development at Facebook, as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and as a lawyer at Allens Arthur Robinson. I started out my career founding Bush Campus, a business whose failure probably taught me more than all my other experiences combined.
I strongly believe startups rarely succeed in isolation, and I’m passionate about helping build the Australian startup community to become 10X stronger than it already is. #giveitforward
